Sutter Keely (Miles Teller) is a high school student and popular party animal. He has little interest in the future and is already an alcoholic. He unexpectedly meets introvert Aimee (Shailene Woodley) one morning after a drinking binge finds him on the front lawn of a strangers house.  As Sutter deals with the problems in his life and Aimee plans for her future beyond school, an unexpected romance blossoms between them.
